After being kitted up with helmets and torches (plus optional overalls/boiler suits) travel 500ft underground and be transported back 160 years. As you enter the deep mine, you will “follow” the mine owner and founder John Whitehead Greaves, as well as the men and boys who worked in the mine – often in semi darkness.

The experience underground takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. There is also a slate splitting demonstration above ground which is 15 minutes. Booking a tour is essential and it is advised that you arrive 1/2 hour before your allocated tour time.
